Sumedeiro Canyon

Our first full day in Chiapas was spent doing a tour to the Sumedero Canyon.

It took about an hour on the mountain roads to get there, the drive crazily down there, passing on the shoulders of the road and around corners. They also will grow corn anywhere, on the sides of the steepest hill. Corn is pretty much the staple food in Chiapas and has been for ever.
When we got to the canyon we all life jacketed up and jumped in a boat.
This bridge is the start of the canyon
The first wildlife we saw were these vultures, the tour was in Spanish, so we missed allot of it, but I am pretty sure he made a crack about them feeding on tourists.
There were some great views to be had from the canyon.
This looked like a face
There were plenty of these cats around too.
The boat goes right up to the edge when you spot a croc, people in the boat were freaking when this guy decided to head back into the water. It was the only croc that we saw move.

We were also lucky to spot an Iguana. Although he didn't move much either.
The mexicans are really religous and will but an alter anywhere. Even in a cave halfway down a canyon.
Everything was great until we hit rubbish bend in the river.
But once we navigated through that we hit this waterfall, it was like misty water and really nice.
The boat took us right underneath.
Then we were out the other end and there were hundreds of birds.
As I said before Chiapas was awesome, and there are still a few posts to come from there, so keep your eyes glued to this blog.
